New Delhi – On Monday, Devendra Yadav, the president of Delhi Congress, criticized both the central and Delhi governments for the increasing crime rates in the city.
He claimed that Delhi has become the “crime capital” of the country, attributing this situation to the failures of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Yadav stated, “Serious crimes such as murder, assaults on women, theft, robbery, and knife attacks are on the rise in Delhi. These crimes are being exacerbated by extortion rackets and the influence of mafia dons.”
He pointed out that there has been a 65.96% increase in crime rates in Delhi over the past five years, which he described as a serious concern. Yadav highlighted recent incidents, such as a shooting at a sweet shop in Tilak Nagar and another shooting in West Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, indicating a troubling trend.
Yadav criticized both the BJP and AAP governments for failing to improve law and order. “The AAP government under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been unsuccessful in curbing crime,” he said.
He also mentioned that the lack of street lighting in many areas of Delhi has made it easier for criminals to operate, leaving women particularly vulnerable.
