New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court has decided to frame charges against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

The case relates to the violent incidents that occurred in November 1984 in Delhi, in which hundreds of innocent Sikhs were killed, and many of their properties were set on fire. This decision marks a significant step in the ongoing legal proceedings of this long-pending case.

According to the court’s order, Tytler faces charges of inciting violence, conspiracy, and murder. The court has acknowledged that there is sufficient evidence to frame these charges against him.

It further stated that Tytler must answer serious questions about his role in the riots, including allegations that he incited violence against the Sikh community.

The families of the victims and several Sikh community leaders have welcomed the court’s decision. They believe this is long-overdue justice that has been awaited for many years.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President, Harmeet Singh Kalka, said, “This decision is the result of a long struggle by the Sikh community, and now we hope justice will prevail. This is a new turning point in the fight for truth and justice for the victim families.”

He also stated that this decision has sparked new hope among the Sikh community. Several Sikh leaders emphasized that framing charges against Tytler is just the beginning and that strict action should also be taken against Sajjan Kumar and other accused individuals.

On the other hand, Tytler’s lawyers have indicated their intention to appeal the decision in a higher court, claiming the charges are politically motivated.

They argue that the court’s decision needs a thorough review, given the alleged political influences behind it.

Further developments in this case are expected in the coming weeks, as the court has set a date for the next hearing. The leaders of the Sikh community remain committed to their fight for justice, hoping that the case will ultimately be resolved in favor of truth and justice.
