Toronto: The Toronto Police Service has arrested an 18-year-old woman in connection with a series of motor vehicle thefts in the Islington and Yorkdale areas, raising concerns among local residents.

According to the police, the first incident occurred on Wednesday, September 11, 2024,  in the Kipling Avenue and Rathburn Road area.

The victim had listed their vehicle for sale, and a male and female suspect arrived for a pre-arranged meeting to inspect the car.

The victim allowed them to enter the vehicle to examine the interior and start the engine. As soon as the vehicle was started, the suspects drove away from the scene at high speed.

A few days later, on Monday, September 16, another incident took place in the Dufferin Street and Yorkdale Road area. The same male and female suspects showed up at a parking lot for another pre-arranged meeting to buy a car.

The female suspect requested to inspect the vehicle, but her nervous behavior raised the victim’s suspicion. Sensing something was wrong, the victim decided to end the interaction and quickly left the area.

Following these incidents, the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad launched an investigation. Acting swiftly and efficiently, investigators identified 18-year-old Sarah Bradshaw of Brampton as one of the suspects involved in the thefts.

On Thursday, September 19,  police executed a Criminal Code search warrant at her residence, gathering crucial evidence related to the case.

Sarah Bradshaw was arrested on Monday, September 23, while already in the custody of Peel Regional Police.

She has been charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Attempt to Commit an Indictable Offence, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over. She appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Tuesday, September 24,

The second male suspect remains at large. He is described as South Asian, with a thin build and a long black beard. Police have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
